Where the People Are

Online Ministry Campaign

We are raising $35,000 to connect with people we never had a chance to reach before.

Commitment Time

Today we gave an update on the Where the People Are Campaign. It's very exciting to see where God has led us!

Yes! You heard that right! We have challenge gifts for 1/2 of our remaining need for the Where the People Are!!

As we talked about last week, we were just under $16,000 raised of this $35,000 goal. With these families' challenge of $9500 - if we meet their challenge, we will have this campaign fully funded! Now it's our turn as a family to step up and commit!

We are asking you to make a commitment of what you can do over the next six months. Your commitment will let us plan and get the tools we need to reach more and more people for Jesus!

We need to know your commitment before October 30th. Please click below and make your pledge!

If you have questions, please read the information below. It goes into detail about what we believe God is leading us to.

Hello Friend,

I entered 2020 enthusiastic about the future of our church. This was going to be our year. No one would have imagined what happened next. It forced us to look at things differently. It made us reevaluate and readjust. And even though 2020 has been a let-down for many of us, new possibilities have arrived and a new enthusiasm is born.

The information you are about to read is a new vision for The Experience Church. It will allow us to tap into new ministry opportunities and reach people we never had a chance to reach before. Please prayerfully consider the rest of this message and see how God may be leading you to get involved.

The Experience Difference:

The Experience is focused on where people ARE,

not where church people think they SHOULD be.

The Experience has always been known for being a place where you are accepted, loved, and where you can take one step closer to Jesus in HIS timing. Because of that, The Experience has always been about where the people are - from the sermons, to the music, to the outreach, it’s always been about going to the people and meeting them in their world; in their lives.

The Experience Opportunity:

1. Connecting Our Church During Crisis: Covid has done one positive thing. It’s pushed The Experience to start to think digitally. As a spiritual community that is tied to a media organization, it is logical that The Experience should be looking at how to reach people on every media outlet possible. But The Experience has been dealing with transitions and other challenges. So, God has used Covid to get our attention.

During the Covid Crisis, we HAD to start live streaming. God provided equipment that we could borrow to keep The Experience connected. It has turned out powerfully. We have been able to reach The Experience Family and keep people connected.

2. Reaching Out: People need Jesus. Our community is facing fear and confusion. Anger and animosity are rising. People need Jesus. During this time, The Experience, like many churches, has pulled back. It’s hard to know how to reach out to the community when we can’t get together and do “church.” We can’t serve the community. It’s easy to focus on what we cannot do.

We don’t know how long this Covid crisis will last. We don’t know how long we are going to be limited in attendance and when people will WANT to come back. So, either we hang out on hold or we step forward into something new.

3. It’s Where People Are: Whether there was Covid going on or not, if someone is going to check out a new church, they are going to go online and check it out. They are probably going to have watched sermons or at last clips of videos before they ever get in the door. They want to know what’s going on before they walk in. If we are serious about reaching people who don’t go to church, then we have to be putting out videos online.

“Social media is rapidly becoming the best way for churches to reach new people. In fact, 46.1% of churches now say that social media is their most effective method of outreach (Buzzplant). If leveraged correctly, your Facebook page can not only provide a lot of useful information about your church, it can also help you grow.”

4. It Gets Personal: One thing we want from all of this is to give YOU a tool. All of us have friends that we want to connect to Jesus and The Experience. We have spiritual conversations that are difficult. We are in their lives, but we don’t ‘know how to connect our faith to their challenges. Now we will have a steady stream of practical sermons, even short video clips that we can share on social media, email to a friend, or even watch with them. We are meeting our loved ones with Jesus and our spiritual family.

5. What We Already Have: The Experience has always tried to present a professional presentation combined with a relatable, personal, interactive worship experience. Currently, our lighting is not conducive to worship and focus. This package will give us a huge leap forward in presenting a worship experience that does not distract because of its poor quality.

Henry Blackaby famously said, ““Watch to see where God is working and join Him.” God is working online to reach people. We can’t ignore what He is doing!

What The Experience Needs:

To go where the people are – online – and create content to connect with them and help them take one step closer to Jesus, we need our own video and lighting equipment. The best video equipment without adequate lighting creates terrible videos; and great lighting without video equipment won’t get anywhere.

The total budget for this upgrade is $35,000.

Break It Down:

This is a big budget for The Experience! What does that big dollar amount go toward?

Video Equipment Total: $13,503

This is a high-quality video system with three cameras, tripods, computer, etc. It’s everything we need to stay broadcasting and reaching people right where they are!

Lighting Equipment: $11,477

Lighting makes all the difference both when we are together and makes a video look sharp and professional. This lighting includes lighting for the audience area that can be controlled and looks great.

Website Expenses: $8760

This will redesign our website to be video and content friendly and much more useable.

Overall Contingency: $1200

Cause 2020 has shown that things don’t always go according to plan!

Things To Know / FAQ:

1. What happens if we move buildings? Does all of this equipment stay in the existing building?

All of the major equipment purchases we will take with us. There’s some cabling and infrastructure that we will have to leave. However, most of the equipment is ours and comes with us.

2. Would we buy different equipment if we were in our own building?

This equipment is purchased with the mindset that it can grow and scale with us. Everything we have can be used again and in a variety of ways. It is hard to say exactly what we will buy when we get into a new building, but this equipment can be used and integrated into anything we would buy.

How Do We Do This?

This is a big goal. But it’s within reach! Check out the giving pyramid! If we each commit to the gift that you can give over the next 6 months, we can meet this goal. We are almost ½ way to the goal already!

Why This? Why Now?

Because we will either accept being pushed to the side by changes in how people are looking for spiritual answers and by the Coronavirus, or we will step forward and reach people where they are with the hope of Jesus. The answer is up to us. The mission is clear.

Now you understand where we are going and why we have to move in this direction. Please take the rest of the week to pray about how you can get involved in this fundraiser. On Saturday, we will make an official request for you to make a pledge on how you can support this initiative over the next six months. This is a large goal, but if we all do our part we will accomplish it and touch countless lives moving forward.
